Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 8am – 5pm
Probation Period: 6 months

Scope
- To be accountable for all aspects of surveying and commercial functions on medium to large sized projects and/or a number of smaller projects, ensuring effective commercial and financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
- To act in the best commercial and financial interests of the business, maximising project profitability, controlling costs, managing risks and opportunities, and ensuring best value is achieved.
- To provide commercial leadership and support in relation to procurement, contract administration, valuations, variations, forecasting, cost control and final accounts.
- To lead, manage and develop members of the commercial team, enhancing the performance, capability and effectiveness of the team and individuals within it through effective people management, coaching and support.
- To develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, whilst creating and maintaining networking opportunities that support the Company’s commercial objectives.
- To understand the Company’s core business objectives and current and future market conditions, identifying commercial opportunities and contributing to the Company’s continued growth, whilst promoting high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality practices.

Duties
Commercial Management
- Take lead responsibility for the financial and commercial management of medium to large-sized MEP and construction projects and/or a portfolio of smaller projects.
- Maximise value recovery, project profitability, cost control and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), financial reports and commercial performance information.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities, escalating significant issues to senior management as appropriate.
Subcontract and Supply Chain Management
- Lead the procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages, ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner and on terms that protect the Company’s commercial and contractual position.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments, variations, notices and final accounts in accordance with contract and Company requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and the wider supply chain to achieve commercial and project objectives.
Contract and Commercial Administration
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Company’s contractual obligations and ensure these are effectively managed throughout the project.
- Prepare, submit and negotiate valuations, variations, compensation events, loss and expense claims and other contractual entitlements, where applicable.
- Maintain accurate commercial and site records to support project accounts, contractual entitlement and protection of the Company’s position.
- Deal effectively with commercial issues and minor contractual disputes, seeking appropriate support from senior management where required.
Final Accounts and Value Management
- Lead the preparation, negotiation and agreement of project and subcontract final accounts, ensuring all commercial entitlements are identified and recovered.
- Work closely with the Project and Site Management teams to maximise value, minimise unnecessary expenditure and maintain effective cost control.
- Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management to support informed business and project decisions.
Leadership and People Development
- Lead, support and develop junior and other commercial team members, providing coaching, guidance and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance.
- Promote effective communication, teamwork and a positive working environment, setting clear objectives and supporting performance and professional development.
- Contribute to resource planning, recruitment, training and development of the commercial team as required.
Client, Consultant and Business Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, PQS/consultants, project teams and the supply chain.
- Represent and actively promote the Company’s professional image and commercial interests.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, business development and the achievement of the Company’s wider commercial objectives.
Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality
- Comply with and actively promote the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and management systems.
- Ensure commercial activities are undertaken in accordance with Company procedures, contractual requirements and applicable legislation.
Other Duties
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities that are reasonably required and are consistent with the role.
- Implement and comply EWC policies and procedures including business management systems, HR, IT, health and safety, environmental, communications and branding.
- Preparing and presenting the commercial aspects of the project, upstream and down to your managers before submission to the internal account or submission to the Client.
