Scope
This job description is designed for a Work-Based Learning Apprenticeship within East West Connects Project Delivery department. It focuses on the balance between on-site experience, technical design, and academic study toward a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Building Services Engineering The Apprentice Building Services Engineer will support the Project Delivery team in the successful installation, commissioning, and handover of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) systems. You will gain hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of sites while applying the theoretical engineering principles learned during your HNC studies.

- Strong verbal and written skills for interacting with site teams, clients and academic tutors
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Basic IT skills (Excel, Word, project tools)

- Willingness to travel to multiple project sites across London and the South East
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal hours to observe key activities (e.g. commissioning, shutdown works)

Duties
Technical & Site Support
- Assist with the installation and coordination of MEP services on site
- Support site inspections, snagging, and quality assurance processes
- Learn to review drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
Project Delivery Support
- Assist Project Managers with planning and coordination of works
- Monitor progress of subcontractors and report on site activities
- Support commissioning activities and system testing
- Assist in preparing handover documentation including O&M manuals
Compliance & Standards learn & apply
- Building Regulations
- British Standards and industry guidance (e.g. CIBSE/BSRIA)
- Company quality and safety procedures
Learning & Development
- Actively participate in HNC study and apply learning to project work
- Develop understanding of: HVAC systems / Electrical services / Public health systems
- Work towards professional development and accreditation pathways
