East West Connect re-engineered the building chilled water system to replace and relocate the basement water cooled chillers and hydraulic pumping arrangements to air cooled chillers and plant on the roof. This involved considerable engineering to develop the existing system to be fed from opposing ends of the building whilst maintaining a fully functional system and not disrupting the client. The existing chilled water system was over 20 years old, poorly functioning, based upon uneconomical undersized water-cooled chillers located in the basement with heat rejection cooling towers on the roof.

To prevent any ill-effects on building occupants, we introduced temporary chillers, installed in the car park, for the duration of the works to ensure no loss of the buildings’ cooling capacity.
