Our Founder

The heart of
East West Connect

The late John O’Hanlon formed East West Connect in 1988 and was the driving force for the growth and development of the company from its early days as a specialist electrical sub-contractor and building the long term relationships with clients that still stand today.

John served his apprenticeship as an electrician with the Irish Navy before moving to London to form the company. John’s reputation within the industry grew and both his professional and personal contacts came to admire and respect his flexible and caring approach to both clients and colleagues.

Nurturing and helping our staff grow

We have a continuous apprenticeship scheme across all sectors of our business to help bring through the next generation of local, hard working talent.

This is strengthened by our ties with Langley College, from whom we employ a school leaver as an apprentice on an annual basis; and with the University of Greenwich, from where we employ graduates as trainee engineers.

Getting involved

We have encouraged our staff to enter numerous marathons, sponsored walks, and other fundraising events across the UK. Where possible we provide our time and knowledge to local charitable groups, to help assist and transform the way that they can support their local communities.

A pro-active role in our community

We proudly sponsor both the Harwell & Hendred U8s football team and the Docklands JFC U10s by providing kits, training materials, and coaching by our members of staff. We also sponsor London cricket team Shaheen Utd.

More than just financial donations

We have recently built a website for Hackney charity Children With Voices helping them to support vulnerable people across East London.

We have worked with SPLASH in Poplar to help vulnerable persons find safe housing and the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund, providing terminally ill children a better quality of life. Our staff volunteer to assist with children's camps to help with computer literacy, cookery, and other life skills.
