We used our engineering prowess to co-ordinate and install an environmentally controlled services arrangement designed to mitigate any risk of damage to the treasures stored within the library.
The new building has been designed so that the vast array of artefacts are stored in an air-tight, temperature controlled ‘box within a box’. This allows the library to house the entire collection in one secure, modern facility, it also protects the antiquities from risk of flood or environmental damage.
As well as preserving one of the UK’s greatest collections of historic books and archives, the new library building has become a destination in itself, sitting at the most westerly end of the South Bank, alongside the Garden Museum, taking pride of place as part of Lambeth’s wider cultural offering.
